At the midway point of the Spring semester, students at the U of M Catholic center are continuing to take more and more ownership of their community. There are four students leading Bible studies of their own to go with the five missionary-led Bible studies present on campus. Teams of FOCUS missionaries exist to empower students to engage in the work of evangelization, and this is exactly what we are seeing in the students building and leading Bible studies. Altogether, we have had 59 students attend a FOCUS Bible study, and approximately 40 of those students attend on a regular basis.
Our purpose in leading Bible studies is to provide students an opportunity to encounter the person of Jesus Christ through scripture and in a small community of Christian brotherhood or sisterhood. Through inviting their peers into this Bible study community, students and missionaries build relationships around their Christ-centered conversation and ultimately challenge students to live differently. Stepping out and boldly claiming their faith is a challenging thing for many students and missionaries alike, so please pray for our efforts and for boldness and faithfulness to Jesus Christ and His Church.
