Hannah Jones is a freshman from Bartlett. his theatre-loving introvert has been involved with Campus Ministry since day one, and is in her own words “becoming more bold” in her Catholic faith. She first learned about Catholic Campus Ministry from her older sisters, Kialie and Deanna, who were in the ministry themselves as students. This Education Major hopes to teach 3
rd through 5
th grades at a Catholic school someday. Hannah, a member of the class of 2019, was concerned coming in about whether or not she’d fit in and whether she would even have the time with her studies. But what she found was a place where the “Jesus in everyone shines though and makes freshmen feel welcomed.” She goes on to say that “it’s fitting that it’s a house because it feels like home.”
She attributes her newfound “boldness” to the influence of Claire Hendee, FOCUS missionary serving Catholic Campus Ministry. Through Claire’s devout and personable faith and her intentional discipleship of Hannah, Hannah has embraced more fully her Catholic identity when she’s out in the world. She hopes to bring a more integrated faith to her young adult life when she leaves college, whether she works in education or in ministry she plans to be “in the world and not of the world.”
And she’s living out her faith right now. The newly-elected Fundraising Chair of the Catholic Student Organization is also leading a Bible study of her own as well as teaching PRE and Vacation Bible School at her home parish in Bartlett. Inspired also by her father’s example and those of St. Raphael, St. Benedict, and Pope St. John Paul II, she plans to continue to step out of her comfort zone for the Greater Good. She believes that if she does that, she will be happy in life.
