Thirteen college students.
Six Dominicans of St. Cecilia.
Pizza.
Prayers.
Minute to Win It games.
We spent our Friday evening at the convent of the Dominicans Sisters of St. Cecilia in Whitehaven for our second year of “Prayers and Pizza”. The Sisters graciously welcomed us into their convent with laughter and reminiscing. We piled into their chapel to pray Vespers and silent meditation. Then we spent the rest of the night eating pizza, playing many Minute to Win It games, and asking the Sisters about Religious Life.
The Sisters were generous with sharing their vocation stories, how they discerned their names, and the joys and struggles they experience as they try to live out holiness. The students were enamored by the Sister’s authenticity and full surrender to Jesus. Many of our students who attended have built a friendship with the Sisters over the year. However, a few of the students had never spent time with any Religious Sisters in general. They commented on the beauty and joy that radiated from the Sisters. They noticed a great goodness in the consecrated religious vocation. As usual, we left feeling rested and surrounded in peace.
