April 11, 2016As this year comes to a close, we approach the time to discern our Catholic organization student Officers for next year at Rhodes College and the Univeristy of Memphis. The Officers lead the ministry in spiritual growth, leadership, fellowship, and service. They coordinate events, outreach to students, and discuss the direction of the ministry.
Members from the entire community are invited to attend the Officer Discernment and Election to discuss what the Lord has done in their hearts for the year and to discern which position the Holy Spirit may be asking them to serve in for the following year.
Each position is paired with a scripture verse to reflect on for the year and to serve as their inspiration:
President (Hospitality)
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15)
Vice President (Formation)
“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Cor 3:17)
Social
“I call you friends. For everything I have learned from my Father, I have made known to you“ (John 15:15)
Communication
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to all who believe” (Romans 1:16)
Social Justice
“As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth” (John 17:18-19)
Fundraising
“Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house’… Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they give you; for the laborer is worthy of his wages” (Luke 10:5)
We are excited for our new students to lead and inspire the ministry! Thank you for all the students who have served this year! May God bless our efforts so that they may bring Him glory!
